121 Star gewann gegen Amanzi in einem Penalty Shootout.  

Tsakani – Star 121 went head-to-head with Amanzi on January 2 at Malandela ground in a heated game with both teams sweating and struggling to score goals.

Supporters cheered from all corners of the ground, anxiously hoping for their team to score. The game ended victoriously for Star 121 in penalties with a score of 5-4.

Star 121 coach Bafana Motsweni said the first half did not go as planned, saying his players did not perform as anticipated.

He further mentioned his players did not show enthusiasm. They were late for everything and did not utilise the opportunities they had to score goals.

“My players were fatigued because most forgot to stay in their positions and played outside their expected area.

“We will continue to work hard, focusing on using our opponent’s weaknesses to win every other game we play.

“Even though we won, I am not pleased by our performance. I believe we could have won outside of penalties,” said Motsweni.

Motsweni emphasised he aimed to better his team’s performance from now on.

Ofentse Boshego, the Amanzi coach, expressed sadness towards their loss, mentioning they dominated the game and created opportunities for themselves during the game.

“We had about three obvious chances in the second half but could not capitalise on that, which led us to penalties.

“In the penalty phase, we again had a chance to win, but we unfortunately missed the final penalty. That resulted in our loss.

“We did not expect to lose. My players were heartbroken and most cried because of this loss. Unfortunately, there has to be a loser for one to win. It is the nature of the game,” cited Boshego.

Boshego said he was grateful for the effort shown by his team towards the game and added there was room for growth and more competitions to partake in.

“Participating in other competitions will encourage us to stay focussed, stay determined and improve our skills,” he added.
