The government of Niger State has committed N5 billion to restore the Nigerian College of Aviation’s mini campus located at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna. This initiative aims to reduce the financial strain on families sending students abroad for aviation studies. During a visit from the college management in Minna, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago stated that the funding will be allocated for the construction of classrooms and hostels, thereby improving the campus’s infrastructure. He added that the state government intends to turn the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport into a center for aviation and agriculture, which will foster economic growth and development. Dr. Danjuma Adamu Ismail, the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation in Zaria, praised the governor for upgrading the airport to meet international standards. He emphasized the college’s enduring collaboration with the Niger State Government, stating that revitalizing the campus would enhance training and skills development in agro-aviation. “The College of Aviation was founded in 1964 and has since grown to include six schools, such as those for flight training, air traffic control, aeronautical telecommunications engineering, airport emergency training, and Aircraft Aviation Management,” he stated. During the visit, the group examined the aviation fuel depot and housing facilities at the airport, which the governor had previously indicated would be torn down to create better accommodation options.
