In the course of an operation of enhanced security, the police of the Commissariat central de Saint-Louis arrested, in the night of 17 September 2025, an individual in possession of nine crack balls. The seizure highlighted the authorities’ continuing efforts to combat drug trafficking and consumption in the region. The operation, conducted at the height of the Bango roundabout, aimed to strengthen road safety and dissuade illicit activities. The agents have set up a checkpoint to control the vehicles in circulation. It was during the inspection of a taxi heading towards the city centre that the attention of the police was attracted. After verification of the vehicle’s documents and the passenger compartment, a more thorough search was initiated due to the passenger’s suspicious behavior. Under the seat occupied by the individual, the agents discovered a handkerchief containing nine drug pellets wrapped in aluminium foil.
