The Central Commissariat of Kolda is conducting a trial on Sunday, September 21, 2025, to arrest an individual for “voluntary homicide”. The suspect was arrested at the scene of the tragedy, in the Sikilo Est district, where a cultural ceremony of “Kankourang” was held. According to the first elements of the investigation, a violent altercation had broken out between the victim and the accused. During the arrest, the latter would have used a knife to deliver a fatal blow to the throat of his opponent, resulting in an immediate death. The rapid intervention of the Search Brigade allowed to neutralize the suspect before any attempt to escape. He has been placed in custody, while investigations continue to clarify the circumstances of this murder that occurred during a ritual called “washing”.
