Sentencing begins for Coutts siege officials
Two men accused of 2022 Coutts borders blockade are scheduled to go on a sentencing hearing on Thursday. Marco Van Huigenbos and Gerhard ( George ) Janzen were each found guilty of mischief over$ 5, 000 last April. The most recent advances from the Lethbridge court are presented to Jordan Prentice.

Two Alberta people have received sentences for their contributions to the 2022 improper Coutts border siege. Gerhard ( George ) Janzen received a three-month sentence to be served in the community while Marco Van Huigenbos received a four-month sentence. Justice Keith Yamauchi delivered the word in Court of Kings ‘ Bench in Lethbridge without showing feeling for the accused. The pair were found guilty of mischief and given a fine of more than$ 5, 000 for their part in the siege, which halted cross-border traffic with the US for two weeks in protest of COVID regulations and vaccination requirements. The prosecutor argued that the illegal siege had a significant impact on many Canadians ‘ lives, and that the sentence must reflect a condemnation of those actions. 0: 34
