The Governor of Taraba has officially enacted a supplementary budget of 128.5 billion Naira.

Last weekend, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State enacted a supplementary budget of N128.58 billion for 2025, which includes a previously sanctioned virement of N47.12 billion by the Taraba State House of Assembly. The governor explained that this financial adjustment aims to fill important funding shortfalls in key areas such as security, infrastructure, and economic growth. “It also aims to lessen the effects of inflation and currency exchange variations on existing projects throughout the state,” Kefas noted. The House Committee on Finance and Appropriation’s report indicates that the supplementary budget will strengthen the state’s ability to address new economic and security issues, ensure spending aligns with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), and accelerate key development projects. Following this approval, Taraba State’s overall budget for 2025 has increased to N574.8 billion, with capital expenditure making up 68.9% of the budget and recurrent expenditure at 31.1%. Additionally, the committee emphasized the need for the state government to focus on transparency, accountability, and timely fund disbursement to guarantee the effective execution of the supplementary budget.
