Kaduna ADC expels deputy chairman, eight others over alleged misconduct

The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled its deputy chairman, Ahmed Tijani Mustapha, alongside eight other senior members, over alleged gross misconduct and acts described as harmful to the party’s image.. The decision, according to the State Executive Committee (SEC), was reached unanimously during its meeting held in Kaduna.. The party leadership said the disciplinary action became necessary after the affected members were found guilty of offences such as “insubordination, holding illegal and secret meetings to usurp party leadership, falsification of documents, and extortion of members of the party.”. Those expelled include the State Publicity Secretary, Idris Musa; State Vice Chairman Zone 1, Sulaiman Abdullahi; State Treasurer, Gambo Sani; State Financial Secretary, Magaji Maiwada; and the State Legal Adviser, Danlami Dabai Musa. Others are the State Coordinator of the PWD, Saura Muhammed; the State Deputy Youths Leader, Ibrahim Muhammed; and one Mansur Gaga.. In a press briefing after the SEC meeting, the ADC State Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal discipline, peace, and adherence to the rule of law as enshrined in the ADC constitution. He emphasized that the expulsion was to protect the integrity and unity of the party at both the state and zonal levels.. Ambut stated that the conduct of the deputy chairman constituted a serious breach of the party’s constitution and amounted to abuse of office. According to him, the actions of Mustapha and the others were aimed at causing division within the party in the state and across the North-West zone.. He said, “As law-abiding members of the ADC party, we are committed to upholding the Constitution of the party and ensuring the integrity of our party’s structure.”. The chairman further maintained that Mustapha acted beyond his powers, stressing that “the Deputy Chairman acted without due process, as he lacks the constitutional authority to convene any meeting or issue such directives.”. Ambut concluded by reaffirming that the Kaduna ADC leadership remains steadfast in promoting unity and accountability among its members, adding that any act capable of undermining the party’s cohesion will be met with appropriate disciplinary measures.
