The list of ten players nominated for the African Ballon d’Or 2025 is now known. Among the favourites are Achraf Hakimi, Sehrou Guirassy, Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen. On the other hand, last year’s laureate, Ademola Lookman, shone through in her absence. The Nigerian striker made a poor start to the season, marked by a conflict with his club after an aborted transfer. Other notable absentees: Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United) and Egyptian Omar Mamoush (Manchester City), despite their fine performances this season. It should also be noted that, despite their brilliant qualification for the World Cup, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde and Tunisia do not have any players among the nominees.
