Political reorganisation: Diomaye Faye replaces Aïda Mbodj with Mimi Touré at the head of the Coalition

President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye addressed a letter of information to the allies of the Diomaye President coalition on Tuesday. In this document, he announces important changes in the internal structure of the political coalition that brought him to power during the presidential election of 24 March 2024. In his letter dated 11 November 2025, the Head of State recalled having terminated, since 10 September last, the mission of Mrs Aïda Mbodj at the head of the coalition. He welcomed the “engagement and dedication without common measure” of the latter, who had piloted the alliance until the electoral victory of 2024. Bassirou Diomaye Faye justifies this decision by the necessity of a “reorganisation” destinée à rendre la coalition “plus opérationnelle, mieux structurée et pleinement performante”. He underlines that this process must be inclusive and involve the Conference of Leaders. Two months after its first correspondence, the President indicated that he had observed a persistent “lethargy” and “divisive factors”, despite the growing interest aroused by the coalition among new personalities and political organizations. He was appointed by the President of the Republic of Mali to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2015. According to him, this mission should take place “under the seal of openness and the search for operational efficiency”. The President said he had high hopes for the experience, commitment and spirit of federation of Mrs Touré, believing that she would contribute to “building a stronger coalition in the service of the positive dissemination of government action under the leadership of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko”.
