The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, took part, on Sunday morning, in the walking tour marking the closure of the Armed Forces Week, this year under the theme: “The Armed Forces, partners of the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026”. Alongside the Minister of the Armed Forces, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the military authorities, the Head of State shared a moment of cohesion, discipline and closeness with the men and women engaged in the preparation of this first Olympic event organized on African soil. Now inscribed in the republican agenda, this randonnée will be held every first Sunday following the Journée des Forces Armées. It symbolises the spirit of resilience, mobilisation and endurance that animates the Defence and Security Forces, which are called upon to play an essential role in the reception, security and outreach of the JOJ Dakar 2026. The Presidency of the Republic welcomed this initiative which strengthens the links between the army and the population, recalling the decisive contribution of the armed forces to the construction of a sovereign, united and future-oriented Senegal.
