Six arrested in Kwa-Thema and Tsakani for illicit drug dealing

EMPD officers arrested six men in Tsakani and Kwa-Thema on January 14 for selling illicit substances.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers intercepted four Swazi nationals aged 20 to 35 and two men (28 and 32) for dealing in illicit substances in the Kwa-Thema and Tsakani areas on January 14.

EMPD Specialised Services officers doing crime prevention duties received information from crime intelligence about the suspicious foursome selling illicit substances to community members.

According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the officers immediately went to the identified location.

“On Rabolou Street in the Rest in Peace section, they managed to corner and intercept the foursome with 27 black plastic bags full of dagga with the estimated street value of R20 000 and R20 in cash.

“In Tsakani, officers cornered and apprehended two males in an open space near Ezihlaleni Street with 12 packets of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R400 and R60 in cash, and 13 plastic-wrapped packages of nyaope with an estimated street value of R500,” said Dlamini.

The officers detained those arrested at the Kwa-Thema and Tsakane SAPS, respectively, booking the confiscated substances and cash at the stations. The six men face charges of dealing in illicit substances and will soon appear in court.
