Jérôme Bandiaky, nicknamed “Sniper” and often described as the man of “sales besognes” under the old regime, could soon regain his freedom. Placed under mandat de dépôt since last September for serious charges, including fraud to the detriment of the State, usurpation of office, trafficking in arms and ammunition, and illegal possession of arms, he was recently heard in the background by the Doyen des juges. According to Les Échos, which published the information in its edition of this Monday 27 January, a significant element of the hearing was the mention of the name of the former Prime Minister Mimi Touré. Une collaboration avec Mimi Touré révélée, questioned on the conditions in which he occupied an apartment in the city centre from which his family had recently been expelled, Jérôme Bandiaky indicated that he had obtained it thanks to the intercession of Mimi Touré, while she was at the Primature, succeeding Abdoul Mbaye. Bandiaky explained having been engaged at the time by Mimi Touré as an “assistant de sécurité”, a function he claimed before the magistrate instructor. According to his proposals reported by the newspaper, his role consisted of: ensuring discreet surveillance to guarantee the safety of his employer, dealing with tasks related to the safety of children, such as accompanying them to school, carrying out certain confidential procedures. However, due to his frequent delays at work, while he resided in the Mamelles district, Mimi Touré would have proposed to him to make a request to benefit from a closer housing. He claims that this is how he obtained the apartment in the city centre where he lived with his family. Bandiaky stated that he had signed the necessary documents as an “assistant de sécurité” and not as a civil servant.
