The dispute over the ownership of River Park Estate is far from over as Nigerian investor Adeniran Ogunmuyiwa alleges that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has not been neutral in handling the matter.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Ogunmuyiwa, who claims ownership of Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited, JCNL, said the minister appeared biased in favor of a group of Ghanaian interests allegedly led by Kojo Mensah.
According to him, Wike’s conduct raises serious concerns about impartiality in the dispute. “Minister Wike may not have been as neutral and unbiased as he claimed,” Ogunmuyiwa said.
He further questioned the minister’s role, noting that as a trained lawyer, Wike should uphold fairness.
“For a minister who is also a trained lawyer, these actions pose a fundamental question: Is the FCT minister acting as an impartial umpire—or as an interested party?” he asked.
Ogunmuyiwa recalled that on September 18, 2025, Wike publicly stated during a live national television broadcast that Ghanaian businessman Sir Sam Esson Jonah was the owner and controller of JCNL, the company with development rights over the 500-hectare River Park Estate in Abuja.
However, the investor argued that the minister’s public claims contradict findings and reports by several Nigerian authorities, including the Corporate Affairs Commission, the Inspector General of Police, and even a committee reportedly set up by the minister himself.
The ownership dispute over River Park Estate has continued to generate controversy, with stakeholders calling for transparency and adherence to official records in resolving the matter.
