The National leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has expelled its chairman in Ebonyi, Ernest Nwaeze, over alleged misconduct said to be threatening the stability and administration of the council.
This is contained in a statement issued by the IPAC National Publicity Secretary, Mr Egbeola Martins, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Martins said that Nwaeze had been suspended on June 24, 2025 after multiple formal complaints and verified communications accusing him of gross misconduct of undermining the council in Ebonyi.
“In line with IPAC’s constitution, the Deputy chairman assumed acting duties while Nwaeze was invited to appear before NEC to answer the allegations at a scheduled hearing.
“He was accused of discrediting IPAC’s women affairs directorate and undermining the national leadership by convening state meetings despite an active suspension and ignoring constitutional directives.
“Despite opportunities to defend himself, his explanations were deemed unsatisfactory, prompting referral of the matter to IPAC’s disciplinary committee for further review and final recommendations.
“After reviewing the committee’s report, the leadership cited his disregard for suspension terms and continued parading himself as chairman in Ebonyi, contrary to the constitution,” he said.
Martins added that the national leadership consequently expelled Nwaeze from IPAC membership with immediate effect.
He described the decision as unavoidable under the circumstances, after exhaustive internal processes.
The national publicity secretary said that the deputy chairman of IPAC in the state had been directed to act pending fresh elections, with the state secretary designated where the deputy is unavailable.
He directed Nwaeze to hand over all the IPAC property in his possession immediately, warning that further representation as an officer of the council would be treated as unauthorised and sanctioned accordingly.
Martins said the expelled chairman had, on Jan. 8, been notified with letters copied to Ebonyi Governor, INEC, security agencies and political party chairmen, including DSS, police and NSCDC.
