Don’t waste money on campaigns – Abia Pensioners tell Governor Otti

Retirees in Abia State under the aegis of Concerned Abia Pensioners have urged Governor Alex Otti not to waste money going for political campaigns for 2027, saying his achievements will attract peoples votes for him.

They also warned against any attempt by politicians to manipulate the political outcome of Abia State in 2027, saying that such alleged plans would not succeed.

The pensioners who held their Bi-weekly meeting in Umuahia on Thursday, said it would be hard to rig out Governor Alex Otti in 2027 polls.

Speaking through their Coordinator, Emeka Okezie and other leaders, the concerned Abia pensioners said they were subjected to untold hardship during the previous administrations in the state because of alleged non-payment of their pensions.

The retirees, however, reminded the Governor of the promise he made in 2025 to pay them their gratuity, expressing the hope that the Governor would do the needful.

“The Governor should not waste money campaigning. He has done more than expected within the space of less than three years,” he said.

The pensioners also appealed to Abia State government to prevail on the outgoing executive of the NUP in the state to open the NUP office, lamenting that the outgoing NUP leadership had locked up the office for some years, forcing the pensioners to hold meetings in open field.
