Duduza – Singer and songwriter Kopano Magongwa, aka K-Music SA, plays a versatile style of music which infuses smooth R’n’B vocals and sweet gospel harmonies into Afro-pop and Afro-soul rhymes.
He is also a social media influencer, model, and music conductor who loves sharing music with others. He describes his music as a true meaning of culturally driven sounds that not only embrace culture but also celebrate urban diversity and show appreciation to the new age sounds such as Amapiano, house music, and electro, among others.
Magongwa discovered his artistry when he started singing for Duduza Serenade (an established choral gospel and spiritual folklore musical group) in 2008, at the age of 14. He sang in the group for about 10 years before becoming an independent artist.
“At the age of 23, I ventured out to be an independent artist and produced my first single. I come from a singing family so I grew up singing. Mom and Dad were musicians way back. Writing and singing started at an early age,” he said.
He released his first EP titled Royalty-Nkabi-Msotho in 2018 and opened the stage for the Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) award-winning artist Sjava at an event hosted by Catch Up Zone in Duduza. A song that put Magongwa on the map is Ngyakuthanda, which is one of the biggest highlights of his musical career.
This song took him to greater heights, and he ended up performing in London alongside SA artist Shasha in May 2023.
Magongwa is working on two singles titled Lebelo and Pain which are due to be released soon.
“The two songs are dedicated to my international fans. I am also working on my amapiano EP titled Uhambo which talks about my journey as an artist. The EP will be released in September.
“Lebelo will drop on March 22. It’s simply a Sotho trap song that talks about where I come from and the tribulation I went through as an artist. Pain will drop on April 12 and it talks about the challenges we face as independent artists.

“My vision and mission is to open a fully functional studio and record label for the young ones who wish to follow in my footsteps so they can have free access to a proper recording studio.
“I faced financial burdens in the beginning, especially to make proper music which would meet the standard of being played on radio or accepted on distribution platforms,” added Magongwa.
He received an award at the Duduza Hero’s Awards for best Afro-pop and jazz artist in 2023.
“My pain, challenges, happy moments and experiences motivate me. Things around me and things that I witness daily are contributing factors. I have opened the stage for big names at big events. Music lets me travel to Cape Town and Swaziland,” he concluded.
