Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday stormed a house belonging to former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami in Abuja, forcing those present to leave.
Sources said the incident occurred shortly after former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar visited the Maitama residence.
He reportedly spent about an hour there before leaving.
An aide to Atiku confirmed the visit, while another witness said DSS officers had already surrounded the house during the meeting but only moved in after Atiku left, People’s Gazette reported.
The situation comes at a time when there is growing pressure on opposition figures like Malami to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Critics have accused President Bola Tinubu of trying to weaken his opponents ahead of the next election, though the president has denied this.
Malami has been facing trial for alleged corruption in recent weeks, a case many observers believe may be politically motivated.
Atiku shared photos from his visit to Malami earlier in the day but did not comment on the raid.
The DSS has not issued a statement regarding the alleged invasion.
