NTIC awards scholarships to over 36 young mathematicians from across Nigeria 

The Nigerian Tulip International Colleges, NTIC on Tuesday awarded scholarships to several students, who participated in the 2026 Mathematics Competition across the country.

NTIC in collaboration with the National Mathematics Centre, had recently conducted its 23rd edition of the Annual National Mathematics Competition, a yearly organised competition for mathematics enthusiasts in Primary 5 and 6 and JSS I to JSS 3.

About 10,000 students participated in the first round of the competition but only 83 students qualified for the second round.

The second round of the competition took place in Abuja and Kano, respectively, between 29th and 31st of March, 2026 for the South and North zone qualifiers, respectively.

36 of the competitors from primary and junior secondary schools were awarded scholarships on Tuesday March 31.

While some of the students bagged 50% percent tuition to 100% tuition scholarships, others got full scholarship which includes 100% tuition, accomodation and feeding.

While addressing the audience during his welcome address, the Managing Director of NTIC, Dr Fevzullah Bilgin, stated that “The broader vision of ANMC is to nurture future innovators- individuals who will contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement in Nigeria, across Africa, and globally In line with this vision, NTIC has committed significant resources to supporting these aspirations.

“Currently, approximately 100 students benefit from the NTIC- ANMC fully funded scholarship scheme.

“This represents an investment exceeding one billion Naira annually an intentional contribution toward strengthening education, human capital development, and nation-building.”

In addition, cash prizes and other rewards were presented to both students and their teachers who ranked in the first 10 positions.

The first three schools from the North and Southern parts of the country were also presented with desktop computers, printers, and tablets.

Also speaking, Mr Erdal Yilmaz, ANMC Coordinator, revealed that the competition has been taking place every year, in conjunction with the National Mathematical Centre, stressing that “this is the 23rd edition and we have not reduced the standard”.

“With the help of NTIC and NMC, we are currently giving around 100 students scholarships through the scholarship scheme of ANMC”, he said.

Mr Erdal explained that the focus of ANMC is to “remove the phobia for mathematics from the mind of the young ones right from a tender age and this in turn, will open them to the world of possibilities in sciences and other related subjects”.
