Caretaker committee hails defection of two Imo Reps to APP 

The Ernest Njesi-led Interim Caretaker Committee of the Action Peoples Party, APP, in Imo State, has commended Ugochinyere Ikenga, the member representing Ideato North and ldeato South Federal Constituency, and his Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal counterpart, Matthew Nwogu, for officially defecting to the Party.

The two federal lawmakers formally announced their move yesterday on the floor of the House of Representatives.

The party said their defection reflects the deep yearning and aspirations of the people of Imo State for a government that works for all and sundry, irrespective of political affiliation, senatorial zone, or background.

It stated that Ikenga Ugochinyere and Matthew Nwogu have shown exemplary leadership by responding to the demands of their constituents who have long desired a credible, inclusive, and development-driven political alternative.

“The entry of these two lawmakers into our fold further strengthens the APP’s capacity to face the challenges of 2027 general elections. It is a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in the vision and leadership of the Action Peoples Party under the current Interim Caretaker Committee.

“On behalf of the Interim Caretaker Committee, we commend Rt. Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo and Dr. Matthew Nwogu for placing the interest of Imo people above personal or partisan considerations.

“Their wealth of legislative experience, intellectual depth, and dedication to service will undoubtedly add value to our party as we continue to build a formidable force for the progress of our state. We assure them of a warm welcome and full integration into the APP family.

“The Interim Caretaker Committee extends a sincere invitation to other well-meaning leaders, stakeholders, and citizens of Imo State who share our vision of a united, prosperous, and better-governed Imo to join the Action Peoples Party.

“This defection is more than a change of platform; it is a strategic movement towards creating a credible political alternative capable of delivering the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
