Troops of the Nigerian Army have destroyed suspected terrorist enclaves during a clearance operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
This was disclosed in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama via his X handle.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 8:00 a.m. on April 23 by troops of 17 Brigade in collaboration with members of the Civilian Watch group.
The sources said the troops carried out an offensive operation targeting identified terrorist hideouts at Malamawa, Jikamshi, and Musawa towns.
Although no contact was made with the suspected terrorists during the operation, troops successfully cleared the enclaves, destroyed life-support structures within the camps, and recovered one motorcycle.
According to the sources, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action and dismantle their operational bases across the state.
They added that troops remain on high alert and continue to dominate the general area to prevent the re-establishment of terrorist camps.
