Two confirmed dead in Abuja as FCT Police engage kidnappers in gun duel

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command, have neutralized at least two kidnappers during a fire battle at the Karshi area, bordering the nation’s capital and Nasarawa State.

A statement released on Wednesday night by SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, said the operation was carried out on May 3rd when the operatives, who were following a credible intelligence stormed the kidnappers’ hideout.

According to the PPRO, during the operation, the kidnappers, upon sighting the operatives, opened fire and engaged the officers in a gun duel.

She noted that during the fire exchange, the gang leader, one Baba Ibrahim, also known as “Tsoho,” and one Isah Shehu were neutralized by the galant operatives.

She, however, stated that three other members of the gang escaped with suspected bullet wounds while one of them was arrested.

2 AK-47 rifles, 1 pistol, and 17 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects after a search in the hideout.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate, led by Baba Ibrahim alias “Tsoho,” comprises Khalid, Dan Geskiya, Mohammadu Mai Tsage, Isah Shehu, and one Dogo.

“Further investigations indicate that the gang has been linked to multiple kidnapping incidents across Gwagwalada, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, and Karshi areas of the FCT, with at least 12 victims abducted”, the statement added.
