Ekuma Nkama emerges APC candidate for Afikpo/Edda constituency

Joseph Ekuma Nkama has emerged the All progressives congress, APC, candidate for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the just concluded primaries elections held on Saturday.

The exercise took place across the eleven wards in Edda Local Government Area and 12 wards in Afikpo Local Government Area.

At the conclusion of the primary election, the chairman of the Ebonyi state National Assembly committee, Kennedy Ekong, officially declared Nkama the winner of the exercise, after scoring the highest vote cast in Afikpo Edda federal constituency.

Following the announcement, Nkama was duly returned elected as the APC candidate for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nkama’s emergence comes after the national leadership of the APC reportedly disqualified Iduma Enwo Igariwey, a three-term member of the House of Representatives, from participating in the contest.

Consequently, Nkama emerged as the validly recognized and unopposed candidate of the party for the constituency.

Nkama commended the electorate for coming out en masse to participate in the primary election and reaffirmed his commitment to the APC.

According to him, the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency stands to witness effective, people-oriented, and impactful representation if elected during the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

He further cautioned opposition elements and individuals allegedly attempting to conduct parallel primaries within the constituency, stressing that such actions remain unlawful and contrary to the directives and position of the national leadership of the APC.

He maintained that any results purportedly declared elsewhere by what he described as “fake delegates” are illegal, null, and void, insisting that the authentic leadership of the party had already taken a clear position regarding the disqualification of Igariwey for reasons best known to the party leadership.
