​Kolda: An abandoned newborn discovered behind the lycée technique 

  A shocking discovery took place this Saturday morning behind the Kolda Technical High School, in the Hafia district, on the outskirts of the commune. A newborn female was found alive at 9:30 a.m., abandoned on the same floor, attracting the attention of a man working on a neighboring construction site. Alerted by the baby’s cries, the man approached and discovered the child, before immediately alerting the local chief nurse. According to a child protection worker who visited the scene, the child was quickly taken care of and then transported to the Kolda health centre, where she is currently receiving the necessary care. Shortly after the discovery, a neighbor presented himself at the health post with suspicions. He declared to the persons found on the spot that a young girl from his neighborhood, whom he knew to be pregnant, had given birth last Thursday at around 9 o’clock. When he had asked her for news of the child, she had replied that he had died.
