The President of the National Assembly, Mr El Malick Ndiaye, received in audience, on Wednesday 11 June, His Excellency Mr Li Zhigang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Senegal. This meeting was a privileged opportunity to discuss the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations between Senegal and China, with particular emphasis on the parliamentary, economic and technological aspects. His Excellency Mr Li Zhigang, in post in Dakar since April 2025, welcomed the excellence of the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. It reaffirmed China’s unwavering commitment to support Senegal in its development efforts through a partnership based on trust, solidarity and mutual respect. Mr El Malick Ndiaye welcomed the Ambassador and stressed the vitality and solidity of the Sino-Senegalese partnership, illustrated by dynamic cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, economy, technology and human exchanges. It highlighted the structuring impact of Chinese investments in the economic development of Senegal, while welcoming the constant quality of diplomatic and social relations between the two nations. In a perspective of strengthening interparliamentary links, he expressed his will to initiate a programme of exchanges and consultation between parliamentarians and Chinese experts, through the organisation of a cycle of seminars in the fourteen regions of the country. This initiative aims to promote a mutually enriching dialogue on the major global challenges and shared development priorities. Finally, the President of the National Assembly invited China to actively accompany the implementation of the transformation programme “Senegal 2050”, led by His Excellency Monsieur le President de la République, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, in order to build a prosperous, sovereign and inclusive Senegal.
