​Pénurie de sucre sur le marché: the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has assured 

  In the face of rumours of a sugar shortage, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce wishes to reassure the public in a communiqué that “the national market does not know any shortage of sugar”. “Supply is ensured on a regular basis, in liaison with the operators of the sector and the Senegalese Sugar Company”, the ministry said. According to the guardian, at present more than 35 000 tonnes of sugar are available, a stock sufficient to cover the needs of the market until the end of July. The Ministry therefore qualifies as unfounded the information evoking a supposed break and calls on traders to avoid any speculation on prices, under penalty of sanctions provided for by law. Field checks are currently being carried out to ensure respect for the approved prices and the accessibility of sugar to all consumers. Finally, the authorities invite the public to inform themselves only through official channels, in the interests of transparency and market stability.
