The World Bank grants 115 million dollars to Senegal to support budgetary reforms and the management of public finances

Senegal will benefit from concessional financing of USD 115 million from the World Bank to support its budgetary reforms and strengthen public finance management. The announcement was made on 24 June in Washington. This financing, granted through the International Development Association (IDA), is intended to support the efforts of the Senegalese Government to ensure the sustainability of the public debt, the mobilisation of domestic resources and transparency in the management of public finances. It will accompany the implementation of the SEN-FINTRAC 2025-2029 programme, aligned with the Vision 2050 of Senegal. “We welcome the government’s firm commitment to debt transparency and an efficient management of public finances”, said Keiko Miwa, Director of the Senegal Division for the World Bank. It added that this support would contribute to strengthening the confidence of the population and laying the foundations for lasting budgetary stability. The financial envelope comprises $105 million for reform-related outputs and $10 million for dedicated technical assistance, notably in digital transformation and institutional capacity building. The programme also aims to modernise the financial management system, improve public procurement, set up a unified debt registration system and promote electronic invoicing. This partnership reaffirms the World Bank’s willingness to support Senegal’s ambitions for good financial governance and inclusive development.
