American rapper Rakim Athelaston Mayers, known professionally as ASAP Rocky, was found not guilty on two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm following a three-week trial.
A$AP hurried to Rihanna as soon as he heard the first not guilty judgement since the courtroom was tense, and the two hugged each other.
Holding a teddy animal, Rihanna started crying while giving other members of A$AP’s defence team hugs. “Thank y’all for saving my life,” the rapper shouted, sobbing as he hugged his legal team and made prayer hands as the jury departed.
A$AP’s mom was also in attendance and she thanked everyone for their support upon leaving the courtroom, hugging people who had covered the trail. As A$AP exited the courtroom with his family, Rihanna could be heard saying “Oh my God” with a big smile on her face.
Outside the courtroom, A$AP told reporters, “This whole experience has been crazy these last four years. But I’m thankful, nonetheless, and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to you.”
Rihanna also took to her IG stories to thank God for a successful trial. “The Glory belongs to God and God only. Thankful, Humbled by his mercy”. She wrote on IG.
