Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) did not keep its campaign promises in 2023. In a statement on Sunday, he urged Nigerians to avoid voting for the APC or any political party or candidate that failed to deliver on their electoral commitments in the 2023 elections. Oguntoyinbo advised voters to assess the promises made by various political parties and their actions over the past two years before deciding who to support in the 2027 general elections. He pointed out that during the 2023 campaigns, the APC and its candidates assured voters of a better quality of life, but the current situation reflects that they have made life difficult for those who elected them. He criticized the removal of subsidies without providing alternative support, claiming it has made fuel unaffordable for most Nigerians. Oguntoyinbo also noted that the increase in fuel prices has adversely affected the value of the naira. He commented, “The APC promised to uplift Nigerians through its Renewed Hope Agenda, but instead, people are living in despair due to the economic downturn. The party claimed it would alleviate the struggles of the poor, yet over the past two years, it has significantly worsened their situation.” They are unable to breathe anymore. The typical Nigerian is experiencing a life filled with despair. Workers’ salaries are insufficient for a basic standard of living. The elimination of subsidies without offering alternative support has resulted in petroleum product prices becoming unaffordable for the average Nigerian. The increase in petroleum product prices has caused the value of the Naira to decline due to multiplier effects.
