Air Sénégal: The Division of Criminal Investigations has dismantled a large mafia

According to Libération, a vast network of fraud around “Staff Travel” tickets, destined to Air Sénégal employees, is currently in the sights of the Division of Criminal Investigations (DIC). This case, revealed following an internal audit commissioned by the company’s new director general, El Hadji Tidiane Ndiaye, could lead to numerous arrests. The head of the “Staff Travel” department was discreetly interviewed by the DIC at the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) before being placed in custody. The financial damage, according to information obtained by Libération, is estimated provisionally at nearly 200 million CFA francs. Tickets intended for staff, who were supposed to be entitled to a reduced or free rate as part of employment-related benefits, were diverted and fraudulently resold on the black market. Some commercial tickets would also have been issued via parallel circuits, without the revenues being returned to the airline.
