American artist Shaboozey expresses a deep connection to Nigeria, stating that the country will always be a part of him.  

Renowned American country music artist Collins Obinna Chibueze, who goes by the stage name Shaboozey, affirmed his deep connection to Nigeria, even though he was born and raised in Virginia. He expressed his joy about collaborating with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy on the track ‘Change Your Mind’, describing the experience as a “homecoming”. The hitmaker of ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ shared that working with an artist from his homeland was a great honor. Sharing his excitement on his X handle, Shaboozey remarked, “This one feels like a homecoming.” I was brought up in Virginia, but my Nigerian heritage is an integral part of me. Now, I have the opportunity to showcase that to the world together with my brother @burnaboy. ‘Change Your Mind’ is being released tonight. Feeling thankful and honored, and we hope you enjoy this song as much as we do! Shaboozey was born on May 9, 1995, in Woodbridge, Virginia, to Nigerian immigrant parents. He started his music career in 2014 when he released his debut single, ‘Jeff Gordon’. He achieved international fame after being featured on two tracks from Beyoncé’s 2024 album ‘Cowboy Carter’. His popular track, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, shares the record with Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ for the longest-run at number one on the Hot 100 chart in history.
