Durban – Armed robbers have carried out a cash-in-transit heist along the N3 Pietermaritzburg-bound, near Sherwood, KwaZulu-Natal.
The brazen robbery in broad daylight on Saturday, 18 July 2026, involved blowing up the cash van just outside the Durban central business district.
Among the responders was ALS Paramedics, whose spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they received numerous calls about a loud explosion just before 17:00.
On arrival, they found the cash van engulfed in flames,
“Paramedics found two security officials who sustained, fortunately, no injuries and a police officer who sustained minor injuries,” said Jamieson.
