A marabout arrested for having tortured a talibé of 9 years. O. Niasse, a 29-year-old marabout, was placed in custody by the Tivaouane Peulh gendarmerie for alleged acts of torture on K. Dabo, a young talibé of 9 years old. The events began on 11 July, when the child fled his home to find his mother in Bambilor, who however sent him back to his Quranic master. On his return, the young boy would have been chained to his feet by his marabout to prevent him from escaping again. On 19 July, taking advantage of the latter’s absence, K. Dabo managed to escape a second time. It was in this state, chained to his feet, that he was discovered by a police patrol in the city of Apix. Interrogated by the agents, l’enfant recounted his ordeal, explaining that he was regularly enchaîné, même pour se rendre aux toilettes. Following this testimony, the gendarmerie proceeded to arrest O. It was nice.
