The Davos Summer Forum opened on Wednesday in Tianjin, in northeast China, in the presence of many international political and economic figures. As a prelude to this important meeting, Chinese Premier Li Qiang hosted a banquet in honour of his distinguished guests, including five Prime Ministers representing several continents. The Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko, took part in this important event. It has intervened as the voice of the African continent, addressing the economic and geopolitical challenges that impact the region. In his speech, Ousmane Sonko also referred to the worrying economic situation left by the former regime of Macky Sall. He revealed the first findings of the audits carried out on public finances since the arrival to power of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. “When we replaced the regime of Macky Sall, the debt was around 74%. But at the end of the audit, it avoided almost 100 per cent”, said the Senegalese government chief. “The deficit, which we assumed to be at 4%, has exceeded 10%.
