The National Spokesman of the Labour Party, Ken Asogwa, has admitted that the exit of its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, created a huge vacuum in the party.
Speaking during an interview programme on Channels Television on Monday, Asogwa described Obi as a colossus.
According to him, the party cannot ignore the fact that Obi left.
“We lost a colossus within the party, but the party envisaged it. Remember that before his departure, the rumour was already out there that he was leaving, and he eventually left on December 31, 2025,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that Obi defected from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on December 31, 2025.
Recall that the former Anambra State governor, in April, dumped the ADC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing internal crises as one of his reasons for leaving.
Asogwa further said that the party has gone back to the drawing board to rebuild its structures and ranks despite Obi’s departure.
