Samba Thiam, President of the Forces Progressives pour le Changement (FPC, opposition), accused the Mauritanian government of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, with the complicity of the Senegalese authorities, of having attempted to arrest him and Deputy Biram Dah Abeid, in a note made public via Facebook. “These days, the government of President Ghazouani, in collusion with the Senegalese authorities instrumentalised has attempted to lure into a trap Biram and me especially, in order to set up a cabal made of all pieces of ‘collusion with the enemy’ “, affirmed Samba Thiam in his declaration. According to the political leader, this manoeuvre aimed to discredit their commitment to human rights and justice in Mauritania. He affirms, however, that this attempt was foiled by their vigilance. ” We have been able to read the intentions and the strategy of the Mauritanian power and dodge the manoeuvre without falling into the trap! ” before concluding with a ” Dieu soit loué “. For the time being, neither the Mauritanian nor the Senegalese authorities have officially reacted to these accusations.
