Since 2021, severe and continuous flooding has wreaked havoc on numerous roads in Unity State, located in the northern part of South Sudan. The primary transportation route connecting Bentiu to Leer has been significantly impacted, especially during the severe and extended rainy season, which prevents communities from reaching essential goods and services they require. The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) engineers are working on renovating the Bentiu-Leer road to enhance humanitarian access for at-risk communities.
