Former Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has claimed that former Real Madrid players tried to take control of the dressing room during his time at Old Trafford.
At the time, the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Casemiro played for the Red Devils.
Ten Hag even had a public spat with Ronaldo that led to the Portugal captain’s contract being terminated.
In an interview with The Athletic, Ten Hag has opened up on what happened behind the scenes.
He said: “I can say I think that’s what the Madrid connection brought in, that players are powerful and they want to decide.
“In my opinion it didn’t suit the phase United was in. The leadership wanted attacking, dynamic football and these players wanted to play what fitted themselves.”
