Kwaggafontein – Flamboyant taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni will spend the weekend behind bars, after the Mkobola Magistrate’s Court in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga, adjourned his bail application to next week.
Sibanyoni and three co-accused – Bafana “The King of Sky” Sindana, Mvimbi Masilela, and Philemon Msiza – appeared in court on Friday, 15 May 2026, facing charges related to alleged extortion.
Sixty-year-old Joe Ferarri – so nicknamed because of his love of sports – was arrested on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, along with Masilela and Msiza for allegedly extorting cash from a businessman.

Fifty-one-year-old Sindana, whose video clip of himself with bundles of cash balanced on his bald head as he dances to music has gone viral, handed himself over to the police at Kwaggafontein Police Station earlier today, Friday, 15 May 2026.
The four suspects are accused of extorting at least a million rand “in protection fees” from a businessman over a lengthy period of time.
At their previous appearance, defence lawyer Advocate Shaun Abrams SC complained about what he said was the “unpleasant” manner in which his client, Sibanyoni, was treated by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and police investigating team.
Abrams is a former National Director of Public Prosecution.
Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said: “It is alleged that the suspects demanded money from a businessman over an extended period of time until he reported the matter at Kwaggafontein Police Station.”
Colonel Masondo said the matter was adjourned until Monday, 18 May 2026.
All the accused were remanded in custody.
