The commitment of the State to endow the Senegalese struggle with a national federation was reaffirmed with force yesterday, at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium, by the Minister of Sports, Khady Diene Gaye. The Minister described this orientation as “irreversible” and stressed that it marked a “major step for this sport at the heart of our cultural identity”. This decision aims at structuring and professionalising the discipline which represents a major pillar of the national heritage. Electoral process temporarily suspended to ensure transparency. In order to ensure a healthy and transparent transition, Khady Diene Gaye announced the temporary suspension of the electoral process underway. This pause is intended to ” make the voters’ record more reliable ” and to guarantee ” total transparency ” in the election of the future leaders of the structure. It is also important to note that the Commission’s proposals are not limited to the following: Despite this temporary suspension of the electoral calendar, the new federal structure should be officially installed from the month of October.
