​Fulham has declined an offer from a Spanish club for their Nigerian international player.    

 

According to Completesports, Fulham has rejected Atletico Madrid’s proposal for Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi. As reported by Africa Foot, Atletico Madrid made a bid of $21.5 million. This week, Atletico Madrid made a bid for Iwobi, presenting him with a four-year contract that includes an annual salary of €7 million. At 29 years old, Iwobi is said to be eager to move to Spain; however, Fulham is reluctant to approve the transfer. The Spanish club is interested in Iwobi as a replacement for Belgian player Yannick Carrasco. Last season, Iwobi excelled at Fulham, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists over 38 league matches. He also made history by being the first Nigerian to play a full 38-game Premier League season in two different years. He finished as the runner-up for Fulham’s Player of the Season award, which was ultimately given to his fellow Nigerian teammate, Calvin Bassey. By Adeboye Amosu.
