Galatasaray: ‘I don’t believe’ – Engin speaks on controversy surrounding Osimhen over salary issue

Former Beşiktaş midfielder, Sinan Engin has provided his views on the controversy surrounding Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen.

Allegations had surfaced online that Osimhen refused to play in the Konyaspor match, which Galatasaray lost 2-0 at the weekend, because he had not received his salary.

However, speaking on the development, Engin said he doesn’t believe that the Nigerian international didn’t play against Konyaspor because he wasn’t getting paid.

According to him, Osimhen didn’t want to risk himself in the Konyaspor match because of Galatasaray’s Champions League Round of 16 playoffs second leg tie against Juventus on Wednesday.

“I don’t believe for a second that Osimhen didn’t play because he wasn’t getting paid. He’s not that kind of kid,” Engin said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“I can agree with Osimhen on this: He might have said, ‘The European arena is more important for me. The Juventus match is more important. I want to prove myself there. My teammates will take care of the Konyaspor match anyway.

“He didn’t risk himself or tire himself out in the Konyaspor match. However, he’s definitely not the type of person to make a fuss about money,” he said.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray had since explained that Osimhen didn’t play against Konyaspor due to injury.
