Johannesburg – “Gorgeous” is coming back to face the Madlanga Commission after she described it as “disrespectful and unprofessional”.
“They laugh, talk to each other and make faces,” Gorgeous complained during a phone conversation with a subordinate, who discreetly recorded the call.
In the recorded phone call played before the commission, she was also heard complaining about “the shit show”.
The recording was provided by State Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy, who revealed in her testimony on Thursday, 30 July 2026 that behind her back her boss was known as “Flip-Flop-Knee-Jerk”.
She laid bare the dysfunction at the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) that led to the inexplicable charging of senior police officers even though no evidence of wrongdoing was presented.
From calling her “Mama” to later describing her as a bully, part one of Advocate Ramsamy’s testimony painted a disturbing picture of her now former boss Advocate Andrea Johnson, whose management style earned her the nickname “Flip-Flop-Knee-Jerk”.
During her 6-day testimony, Advocate Johnson, whose pet name in WhatsApp messages with Major General Feroz Khan was “Gorgeous”, portrayed herself as a whimpering, forgetful, and fatigued elderly lady.
She made sure to mention her request to go on pension was being considered.
That was before the anomalies exposed by the commission became too hot to bear, and she quit her high-profile job at the weekend.
But in the recorded audio of her phone call to Advocate Ramsamy, Advocate Johnson was loud and full of it, stating: “They think I am thick as two bricks”.
Perhaps this was an insight into why one of her investigative reports was named “Diversion”.
She even suggested Advocate Ramsamy should not testify before the commission even if it meant leaving the country.
For someone who possibly tried to “hoodwink” the commission by providing doctored documents, Advocate Johnson’s comments appear to have dug her into a very deep hole.
Now the commission wants her to come back and respond to the matters raised.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority is probing the former IDAC head for possible crimes.
She faces allegations, among others, that she unlawfully gave a docket implicating Major General Khan to him – the same one who refers to her in WhatsApp messages as “Gorgeous”.
General Khan was shot and hospitalised just before he was due to testify at the commission.
The motive of the shooting has not been made public. No suspects have been arrested yet.
