Heartland has turned down an offer from Kun Khalifat for a slot in the NPFL, while the promoted team gets ready to make their debut in the top division.

Kun Khalifat FC, recently elevated to a higher status, will participate in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season, as Heartland FC unexpectedly chose not to pursue the elite league position. According to TM Nnadi, Heartland is not interested in taking over slots. Charles ‘Tigana’ Nnadi, the Team Manager of Kun Khalifat, shared exclusive information with Completesports. Despite common belief, Heartland FC, which is owned by the Imo State Government, is not looking to acquire the NPFL position of the Owerri-based team. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the NFF has appointed Garba and Aduku as coaches for the Golden Eaglets and Falconets. “Kun Khalifat will participate in the NPFL for the 2025/2026 season,” Nnadi announced on Friday morning. “We intended to grant them the opportunity to take the spot.” However, Heartland is not looking to acquire our NPFL position. “We’re set to compete in the Premier League.” Khalifat Returns to Training, Aiming for a Successful NPFL Debut.
