Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant is offline due to failures on the high-lift pumps, which have affected the plant’s operations.
“Technical teams are on site and are working diligently to carry out the necessary repairs and restore the plant to full operation as quickly and safely as possible,” the City of Tshwane said in a terse statement on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
The affected areas include Bronkhorstspruit Town, Zithobeni, Ekangala, Rethabiseng and parts of the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality.
“At this stage, there is no estimated time for the restoration of operations,” the statement said.
“The city will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as soon as additional information becomes available.
“The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience caused, and thanks affected residents for their patience, understanding and continued cooperation.”
