According to the source, three individuals presenting themselves as block assistants at the Abass Ndao Hospital in Dakar are accused of having illegally exercised medical acts in this structure, as well as in private clinics and other healthcare establishments in the capital and its suburbs. According to the chef de service du bloc opératoire de l’hôpital, Abibou Faye, Yatma Ndiaye and Bacary Coly were performing circumcisions without qualification or authorisation. Professor Mamadou Seck warned of the medical risks posed by certain interventions: among their victims were children and a woman suffering from goitre, whose kidney had been removed following a poorly conducted operation, leading to serious complications. Several other people had also presented post-operative complications. In the context of the ongoing investigation, the director of the Hospital Abass Ndao and the Major have indicated to discharge themselves of all responsibility regarding these acts.
