A mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to arrive in Dakar next week to begin discussions on the implementation of a new programme. The announcement was made by Edouard Gemayel, head of mission of the IMF, in an exclusive interview accordé au quotidien L’Observateur. “First of all, the missions that took place in the past were very important, because we were helping Senegal to implement a strategy to address the problem of misreporting that took place. And that’s a pris du temps, especially on the Senegalese side. There is first the Inspection générale des finances (IGF) in September 2024, the Cour des comptes in February, and it is only at the end of June that there is the audit of Mazars. And on our side, once we had the latest figures from Mazars, end of June-beginning of July, we put the strategy in place at internal level.
