Pretoria ā President Cyril Ramaphosa has met His Majesty King Misuzulu Zulu at the Official Presidential Residence, Mahlamba Ndlopfu, in Tshwane, where they discussed the South African governmentās migration management. Ā
The meeting was held ahead of the Tuesday, 30 June 2026, much-publicised demonstrations against illegal migration.
The Presidentās meeting with King Misuzulu of the Zulu Royal Family forms part of the governmentās ongoing engagements with key stakeholders and social partners about the governmentās approach to migration.
President Ramaphosa used the meeting to emphasise the responsibility of the state to enforce immigration laws and that no individual may stop another to demand documentation or proof of nationality.
President Ramaphosa also called on the King to add his voice in calling for peaceful demonstrations by those protesting against illegal immigration.
The South African Police Service has assured the nation that they have put in place contingency measures to secure lives and property during the demonstration, which many fear may turn violent.

During the weekend, President Ramaphosa held a similar meeting with other Kings and Queens at Mahlamba Ndlopfu. Ā
President Ramaphosa underscored the key leadership role of royalty in South Africa and in communities.
He also acknowledged the concerns of communities, including persistently high unemployment, poverty, and hardship.
