Launch of “SICAP INDUSTRIE SA”: a strategic partnership to support the industrialization and housing policy in Senegal

An important partnership was signed on Tuesday in Dakar between APIX SA, the Société Immobilière du Cap-Vert (SICAP SA) and the Chinese company Fanzhisheng for the creation of the industrial complex “SICAP Industrie SA” in the Diass Special Economic Zone (ZES). This structuring project marks a major turning point in the country’s industrialization process and the acceleration of the national housing policy. As a result of an agreement signed by the three parties, the project aims to install a plant for the production of prefabricated materials in concrete and steel bars on a site of 66 hectares. It is part of the desire to strengthen the local industrial fabric, to reduce dependence on imports and to support the construction of 10 000 housing units per year. With an overall investment of 100 million dollars (more than 56 billion FCFA), the plant will comprise nine automated production lines, a concrete plant, a steel bar fabrication line, a mechanized expander, and an integrated steam treatment system guaranteeing high standards of performance, durability and respect for the environment. “This project will be realized in 18 months and will contribute significantly to the economic development of Senegal. It will allow the creation of 1 200 direct jobs and about 2 700 indirect jobs”, said Li Tong, general director of Fanzhisheng. For Bacary Séga Bathily, director general of APIX SA, this project fully embodies the vocation of the Special Economic Zones. To provide an attractive, secure and suitable environment for the establishment of competitive and sustainable industries. I’m not sure.
