Lesley Ugochukwu expresses that transferring to Burnley is an ideal decision for him.

Lesley Ugochukwu has described his move from Chelsea to Burnley as an ideal situation for him. Burnley secured Ugochukwu from Chelsea for a fee exceeding £20 million, finalizing a five-year contract. Reports indicate that this fee is comparable to the £23.2 million Chelsea initially paid to acquire Ugochukwu from Rennes in 2023. Ugochukwu expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s a wonderful feeling to join Burnley. Once I learned of the club’s interest in bringing me on board, I was eager to find out more about their plans.” I had a conversation with the manager and Maxime (Estève) – both of them were extremely enthusiastic about the club and its future trajectory. I believe this is the ideal step for me at this point in my career, especially given the club’s ambitions. Additionally, Hato mentioned that joining Chelsea was the right choice. This is a thrilling moment to be present, and I’m eager to begin. I am truly thrilled to wear the Burnley jersey in the Premier League. Ugochukwu was deemed unnecessary at Chelsea as the club aims to offload several players from their so-called ‘bomb squad,’ which includes England stars Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, who are training apart from Enzo Maresca’s main squad. After two years at Chelsea, where he featured in 15 matches across all competitions in his first season, he has now been loaned to Southampton for the 2024-25 season.
