ALS Paramedics was alerted of the deadly crash just after 11:30 pm on Monday, 5 October 2026.

Paramedics established that the truck car carrier collided with a light motor vehicle, lost control, and crashed into a bridge pillar.

ā€œThe light motor vehicle driver, a male believed to be in his 40s, had unfortunately sustained major fatal injuries, and there was nothing Paramedics could do for him; he was declared deceased on the scene,ā€ said Jamieson.

ā€œThe truck driver was found severely entrapped in the wreckage, and immediately the eThekwini Fire Department was dispatched to assist.

ā€œThe eThekwini Fire Department worked for approximately two hours to free the severely entrapped driver whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man in the Truck Cabin.ā€

The man had sustained critical injuries and, once freed, was carefully extricated and placed into an awaiting ALS Paramedics’ ambulance before being transported to a nearby hospital.

The police were also on the scene.
